Bullying happens in even the best schools and communities. Parents need help to identify the warning signs that their child is either a bully or the victim of a bully, because both are in need of immediate assistance. They also need strategies, language and skills to help their kids recognize and take ownership of unwanted behaviors. And although most parents understand that they need to engage in meaningful conversation with their child, even more don't know how to begin.
In my book, Bully Maze. Finding A Way Out , I point out warning signs, define what bullying looks like and give parents language and strategies to help their bully or victim. I also recommend several children's books for parents to read to and with their kids on bullying. If you let the drama unfold within the pages of the book, kids are able to identify with characters, observe how negative behaviors affect others and respond to suggested resolutions within the safety of their own couch.
This is a small book designed to solve big problems.
