I remembered when Chris won his first science fair award, the many friends with whom he shared joys and struggles, the time he got hit hard on the football field and was oh so slow to get up and when he triumphantly became an Eagle Scout..So many memories flew by during those few short steps.
What I didn’t remember was what grades he got on his report card for 4th grade social studies or 9th grade Spanish test nor how he did on his state test scores. I can't remember the results of his SAT tests or his g.p.a. upon graduation. But I do remember the many teachers, family members, friends, neighbors, and scout leaders who believed in him and who guided us all as Christopher grew into the wonderfully successful young man that he is today.
With age comes perspective and gratitude. I will continue to be grateful to all of those incredible people who enriched our family through our many "growing" years.
Now it's Chris and Marissa's turn to begin their journey together. I can only hope that they will be as blessed as we were. May their friends be many and may they always receive love and support from their family, neighbors and friends. Oh, and may their kids have some exceptional teachers too!
I love you Christopher and wish you and Marissa years of happiness!
