Although I loved reading the story, I wanted to take it a step further and created a quilt filled with colors and texture. A tactile delight is provided as little ones trace over the stuffed leaf, the ridges of the caterpillar and the wings of the butterfly as each part of the story is read. My story filled quilt also encourages parents to point out colors, fruits, days of the week as well as the wonders of nature!
I included extra batting under each of the main panels to create added puffiness and dimension. Kids can run their fingers over the ridges of the leaf, caterpillar and butterfly as their parents introduce them to the stages of a butterfly's life.
Whether you use this as a wall hanging, lay it on the floor for a play area or tuck your loved one in it at sleepy time, I think that you will truly enjoy all that this quilt has to offer. And if you are giving it as a gift, don't forget to add a copy of the actual book for a double surprise. Reading is the most important gift you can give your child!
