Consider a different response. Share the stories of some other kids who also felt like they were different and help your child to see a value their uniqueness. Whether you are talking about Albert Einstein, Leonardo Da Vinci, Charles Atlas, Abraham Lincoln or Salvador Dali – each of these individuals felt "different" from their peers. And they were!
And each of these children grew into adults who made a profound difference in our world. If your child sees the world a bit differently from others, wonders about things that others take for granted or looks for a new path to follow, consider reading them a story book about these and other important historical figures. And let them know that it's okay to be different.
With difference comes enlightenment, growth and change. Help your "little Einstein" to see their own personal value that comes from being "different".
